We are Domeworthy.

Our Mission:

to create homes of extraordinary strength, beauty, and efficiency.

It’s what we orient around every day. And it’s all in service to a vision that Domeworthy carries: the widespread adoption of truly sustainable housing.

We didn’t set out to make domes! They just happened to be the answer we found on our quest toward building the most efficient home possible.

Over the past four decades, we’ve worked tirelessly to bring this brilliant technology to the masses, and we’re just getting started.

Domes for life.

It’s more than a slogan; “Domes for life” speaks to the values we hold dear, the passion that drives us, and the real-world advantages found in every dome we build.

Once the logic and elegance of the geodesic dome became clear to us, we knew this was the way forward.

Domes are an (awe-inspiring) inevitability. The physics just makes sense.

A legacy of domes.

The future of domes is increasingly tied to the future of our planet. As this remarkable technology takes root in the modern era, we’re honored to play a part in its adoption, helping build a more sustainable, resilient, and inspired way of living.

Prehistory & Ancestral

For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples around the world have lived in dome-shaped dwellings. From the Inuit igloos of the Arctic to the earth huts of Aboriginal communities in Australia’s sunbaked Outback, domes have long been a natural expression of home.

1930s-1950s

In the 1940s, visionary inventor Buckminster Fuller reimagined the dome for the modern world, blending timeless structural principles with cutting-edge engineering. His geodesic dome, built from a network of interlocking triangles, became a symbol of strength, efficiency, and graceful design.

1960s-1970s

As back-to-the-land movements of the 1960s and ‘70s gained momentum, interest in domes surged across the country. Counterculture bibles like The Whole Earth Catalog and Domebook 2 inspired waves of off-grid living, communal experiments, and DIY dome constructions.

Present

Today, after decades of field-tested refinement, we’ve evolved the geodesic dome well beyond the limits of conventional housing. With domes constructed around the world, Domeworthy has helped introduce the concept to a new generation, enticing the adventurous and eco-friendly alike. (We even had the honor of restoring Bucky’s original dome home in Carbondale, IL.)

Designed to last.

Built to inspire.

Domeworthy was founded by a band of builders, designers, and dreamers who have spent the last forty years perfecting the art and execution of the geodesic dome.

With patented designs and decades of iterative improvement, we’ve committed ourselves to examining and enhancing every aspect of the dome building process.

That means more than just an obsession with innovation; it also translates to the care we invest into every customer journey, helping bring your deeply unique vision to life with confidence and clarity.

What we build is as strong as what we believe.

That’s what it means to be Domeworthy.
